How to use the sample data?

I wasn't sure how to import the sample data into my new, clean database, without creating problems.

Can I create a new database from my database host site, and import the sample data into that?

Hello. From what I understand (I have imported the sample data into a few installations), this shouldn't create any problems. The import process does display a caution that you may not want to import the sample data into a 'production' Rock installation. But, as we are currently in Beta, I'm not sure how many installations would/should be considered 'production'. I have imported the sample data both before and after adding my own data. In both cases, the process seemed to work fine.

I am guessing that you could also create a new database and re-run the installer script, pointing the install wizard to the new DB. This is a speculation on my part, but it seems like it should work.

That's correct. You can run that Sample Data block multiple times and it should not cause any problems (any records it previously added should be removed before it re-adds the new records). The only thing I would add is this: there is no way to automatically remove the data if you're done with it. However you can always remove some of it by hand (except the people records as mentioned here: http://www.rockrms.com/Rock/BookContent/5#deletingaperson )
