Ability to Add Recipients to a Scheduled Communication

Communication

Hey there!

Description

Enable the ability to add new recipients to an existing scheduled communication before it is sent.

Additional Details

Currently, once a communication is scheduled in Rock RMS, the recipient list is locked and cannot be modified. This limitation makes it difficult to adapt to last-minute changes or additions—especially when communicating with dynamic groups like event attendees, new visitors, or registrants.

I’m requesting a feature that allows users to add recipients to a scheduled communication without needing to duplicate or recreate the communication. Ideally, this would be available via:

  • A simple “Add Recipient” or “Edit Recipients” option available on the communication record until the message is sent.
  • A cut-off time could be implemented to prevent edits in the final few minutes before sending.

Ministry Need

In fast-paced ministry environments, communication often happens in stages. For example, a group leader might schedule a reminder email days in advance—but new members may be added to the group between scheduling and send time. Without the ability to update the recipient list, these people miss important info, and staff must duplicate communications, increasing workload and confusion.

This feature would serve pastors, group leaders, event coordinators, and administrative staff by ensuring timely and inclusive communication without unnecessary extra steps.

Why It Matters

Rock is built to empower ministries to work smarter, not harder. This feature promotes flexibility, accuracy, and efficiency—three values critical to effective ministry operations. It reduces administrative friction and allows churches to focus more on people and less on process.

Whether it’s onboarding new members, reminding a team, or sharing a time-sensitive update, the ability to update recipients ensures no one is left out just because they joined late. That’s the kind of Kingdom-minded functionality that aligns beautifully with Rock’s mission.
